Tonight is the summer solstice . . . marking the longest day of the year. Hopefully you will be able to spend some time in a lounge chair relaxing with a beverage and book. Or maybe, you’ll do it with audible.com and a road trip! For the 2025 Summer Reading List, I have included seven (7) new books for your insightful reading pleasure. There are a couple personal finance books as well as several personal growth book recommendations.
Women Wise: The Essential Guide to Financial and Lifestyle Decisions as We Age by Marjorie Fox and Eleanor Blayney – Written by respected industry peers ‘of a certain age,’ this book is for women tackling retirement head on.
College Finances for Military Families by Kate Horrell – Kate is a military spouse and a fellow expert in military finance. If you have teens, this is a must read (I got an advance copy; pre-order now for July delivery).
The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace by Gary Chapman and Paul White – This is the professional extension of The 5 Love Languages, and I think it’s an essential guide to help you connect and work with your teammates. I often give it to my mentees.
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins – If you’re not listening to the Mel Robbins podcast, you’re missing out. I did a blog post based on her podcast on happiness last year. The Let Them Theory is a bestseller that is life changing.
Open When… by Dr. Julie Smith – She was a guest on the Mel Robbins podcast, and I will be buying this book for Christmas gifts this year. You don’t have to read it from cover to cover; you can just open when … fear shows up [chapter 21] (like when the markets crash).
Overcoming the Impostor by Kris Kelso – I was fortunate enough to hear Kris speak at the University of Tampa recently, and it felt like he was inside my brain. If you ever feel like an importer (me too!), this is a great book to help you reframe your brain.
The Power of the Pause by Effie Santos – Effie is a new friend, and her story is a powerful one. She is doing exactly what she advocates, “embracing life’s lemons”.

In case you missed it, here’s the 2024 Summer Reading List.
All of these books are available on amazon.com. Please let me know if you love any of my recommendations!
